Harish Bajaj is president of GOPIO New Zealand. In less than a year, he has started many GOPIO chapters in New Zealand, from Auckland where the majority of the Indian population lives, to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. He is also known as Mr India in Auckland for his many years of dedicated and committed service to the Indian community.

He has been chairperson of the board of trustees of Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust Inc founded in 1994 for services to senior citizens of Indian and South Asian origin. He is a full member of the New Zealand Institute of Travel & Tourism, of which was past chairperson of the Auckland branch. Also, he was past assistant district governor of Rotary International District 9920.

Mr Bajaj has been in New Zealand for the past 40 years. His wife Indu has also been providing social services to senior citizens of Indian Origin. She too has been recognised with the Queen Service Medal (QSM) in 2001.
