I congratulate Dr. Samanta for establishing institutions of character like KIIT and KISS. I urge the students of KIIT and KISS to take the lead in spreading the message of peace and non-violence in present day strife-torn
world.
—Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India
Dr. Samanta’s contribution in the field of education significantly adds to the prestige of the state of
Odisha.
—Mr Kapil Sibal, Ministry of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Government of India
This institute (KISS) started in 1993 with only 125 students. It is a matter of great pleasure that today Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences has been successful in transforming itself into a big institute. Today 7,000 (increased now to 16,500) tribal girls and boys study here. The institute has gained good reputation in the country. This has been possible only because of the hard work of Dr. Achyuta Samnta. For this I extend my congratulations to Dr. Samanta. I pray for further progress and growth of Kalinga Institute of Social
Sciences.
—Mr Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Orissa
I am so deeply inspired by the leadership at KIIT and KISS and the selfless example of providing opportunity for students to live out their dreams. This story would be exceptional in its own right. But it is even more unique in that the dream of a better life is extended to tribal students, students from poor backgrounds and students without certain futures. The Founder, Dr. Samanta lives out Gandhiji’s principles of helping the poor and underprivileged. I hope this example expands across India for thousands of lives and is a promising ripple of hope for transforming Indians’
future.
—Mr. Timothy J. Roemer, former U. S. Ambassador to India
Dr. Samanta is my role
model.
—Prof. Richard R. Ernst, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (1991)
We thank KIIT University and its management for a wonderful conference, an impressive inauguration of the School of Biotechnology and Convocation. Organization of our visit and of the events was excellent and highly professional. The extraordinary hospitality of Dr. Samanta and his staff was wonderful and adorable. This will stay in our best
memories.
—Prof. Rolf M. Zinkernagel, Nobel Laureate in Medicine (1996)
So much has been achieved in such a short time! All credit to Dr. Samanta and his dedicated staff for their efforts in imparting education to thousands of children and young people and giving them a bright
future.
—Mr Ruskin Bond, Eminent Writer
It has been my proud privilege and honour to be with all you wonderful, vibrant, charged up individuals—students, faculty members and supporters of KIIT and KISS. It has been an inspiring and exhilarating experience. As an Indian I am intensely proud of your enormous
achievements.
—Ms. Shobhaa De, Eminent Writer and Columnist
Dr Achyuta Samanta’s initiative for the development of tribals through education is illustrative of Gandhiji’s love for the tribals living in the lowest strata of the
society.
—Sir Anerood Jugnauth, President of Mauritius
I was delighted to visit KIIT. The remarkable efforts of Dr. Samanta in developing this campus into a world class institution are commendable. That this has been done in a short period of time is even more remarkable. This effort and the Tribal School that has been set up could be a role model for development of other campuses in the country. My good wishes to
KIIT.
—Mr. K. V. Kamath, Chairman, Infosys Ltd. and Non-Executive Chairman, ICICI Bank
I am most impressed with the achievements of this great institution. Living in Delhi, I was ignorant of the good work being done by Dr. Samanta and the good things done in far away eastern
India.
—Mr Fali S. Nariman, President Bar Association of India and Senior Advocate Supreme Court
Period before independence was the time of Gandhiji, Nehruji, Maulana Azad, Subhas Chandra Bose and others. They had great love for the country and they sacrificed everything for it. Independence could be achieved only due to their sacrifice. Similiarly, 65 years after independence Dr. Samanta has sacrificed everything for the
society.
—Mr Gulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare
Rabindranath dreamt of a new India and named it Bharat Tirtha. I have seen Bharat Tirtha today, in Bhubaneshwar,
Odisha
