It has been a month and a half of an awesome cricketing carnival, and its reverberations are being felt worldwide. Truly, the IPL dished out king-sized entertainment night after night. The very nature of the New Age game kept millions riveted to the television screens, drove hundreds of thousands to watch the matches at the cricketing venues, and added a whole new fan base for the game and its players. Cricket blogs had numerous afficionados of the game writing in from all corners of the world. Truly, the IPL with its Twenty20 format caught the imagination of not just the Land of the Billion, but also its entire diaspora, and beyond.
In this cover story, we’ve tried to bring in the elements that have made this fare so very exciting, gone into the business of the game, and spoken on how it becomes important for franchises and administrators to sustain the frenzied interest of the first year of IPL’s actions. With so much of glitz, glam and showbiz going hand in hand with the raining of sixes, and unblinking eyeballs, too much is at stake indeed.
Also in this issue we’ve focused on the city of Delhi, and how its Government is working on improving things on the power front, and teaming up with various agencies to showcase a new set of infrastructure before the Commonwealth Games of October 2010.
