Among the pioneers of the space movement have been NASA scientists, several of them distinguished Indians. But one Indian who could not make it to NASA has now fashioned his own spacecraft, something that along with those of his competitors, will take air travel to the next orbit in the next few years. Which means that those that can cough up amounts that to begin with will be astronomical, will travel higher, and faster. The private space ships will enable such travelers to cover distances of about 10,000 miles in just about the same time it takes to complete half a game of soccer. Our cover story features New Delhi-born Chirinjeev Kathuria who is currently building a space launching facility in Canada’s Nova Scotia. The chairman of PlanetSpace tells us that India would be one of the company’s core areas of operation.

Also in this edition is a story on the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal, a photo-feature on the Bollywood show in Atlantic City, and a strong section on overseas Indians.

Our next edition will be a special one for the forthcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the GOPIO events in New Delhi in January 2008.
