GETTING SAVVY

This turned out to be a complete brainchild of Air-India's dynamic Chairman and Managing Director V. Thulasidas. In the last week of July, Air-India invited celebrity frequent fliers like Sunil Gavaskar, Poonam Sinha, wife of cinestar-politician Shatrughan Sinha, Maureen Wadia, Udayan Bose, Prithis Nandy, Avantika Birla, Kapil Grover, Sheila Kriplani, Jyoti Khanna and others to choose the items that would go into the making of a new amenity kit for first and business class travelers. This is part of Air-India's new look in-house campaign that will herald the introduction of new Boeings that are being added to the carrier's fleet. Says Thulasidas, "These are people who have flown the best all over the world, so they should know what ought to go into an amenity kit." This wasn't the first time that celebrities visited Air-India's 22nd floor in recent times. A few months back the likes of Ratan Tata, Tina Ambani, Deepak Parekh and others were here, that time to select upmarket, comfortable seats from a world class range, once again for the first and business classes. Clearly, Air-India believes that if the upper classes are spruced up, then the image makeover will be faster, and financially more beneficial. |
