A part from crisscrossing the world with passengers, Air-India was also involved in evacuation of Indian nationals
working in Lebanon. Naval ships evacuated Indians from Lebanon to Larnaca in
Cyprus and beginning July 21, Air-India swung into action with its 747-400 aircraft. By July 24th, four flights had been operated, and 1,449 passengers, including seven infants had been safely transported back to Indian shores. The evacuation was systematic, well-planned and executed well. According to CMD Thulasidas it was a result of close coordination with the Indian embassy in Cyprus. |
