Azerbaijan and India have economic and cultural interactions since times immemorial. Azerbaijani oil and gas specialists and engineers were the first to explore, discover and put to commercial use oil and gas resources of India in the second half of the 20th C. India-Russia-Iran-Azerbaijan are cooperating to commission North-South Transport Corridor. Azerbaijan and India held political consultations and Inter-Governmental commission meeting in July and October 2016 respectively in Baku, Azerbaijan. In January - September 2016 trade turnover between Azerbaijan and India was $316.4 million. In 2017 Azerbaijan and India will celebrate 25th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations. Azerbaijan has created favourable investment climate for foreign investments in new and renewable energy, IT, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food processing, etc. Azerbaijan received 2.5 million tourists in 2015.
