Indian Diaspora in Paris An Introduction

First, France lost the lodges in 1947, then Chandernagore in 1950 after a referendum where the population massively voted for independence. Another referendum took place in 1954 in Pondicherry, Yanam, Mahe and Karikal, which were de facto transferred to the Indian Union and became the Union Territory of Pondicherry, but it took 8 years for the French Parliament in Paris to ratify the treaty with India.
