Rural communities’ economy is enabled through both farm and off-farm activities. Starting with two three projects at the time of the Founder, today several communities have benefited through organic farming, bee keeping, mushroom, Basmati cultivation, aromatic and medicinal plants interventions. Self-help groups and farmer interest groups now have their own federations to take these activities forward. Tailoring, embroidery and handicrafts, including revival of handlooms are some of the other women-led programs. A Comprehensive Community Development Program is currently being enabled for promoting sustainable livelihood through short, average and long-term livelihood options. As a Technical Support Agency, RDI also enabled participatory development planning for Tehri district for five years through the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India.
