While Luxembourg’s multi-dimensional engagements with India have grown, so has India Empire magazine’s coverage. In April 2019 we had a cover interview with Ambassador Kugener, and the issue, in all, carried 18 pages on Luxembourg including how the nation is a hub for ICT and startups in Europe, the heightening presence of Luxembourgian companies in Indian states, the country’s attractiveness as a tourism destination, and more. In September 2019 we had a three-page interview with the Director General of the largest private wine-making company in Luxembourg. In February 2020 we had a three-page cover interview with the CEO and Deputy CEO of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange who were in India to attend the Raisina Dialogue. In fact an article on “sustainable finance” by the Deputy CEO of the LSE is being carried in this issue.
Luxembourg is nestled between Belgium, Germany and France and is Northern Europe’s regional economic hotspot with notably the highest per capita GDP in the world. India would do well to further its economic engagement with this financial powerhouse. Elsewhere in the magazine, Mr Chanravyn Burenbayar, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Mongolia in New Delhi, has written on the recently concluded Parliamentary elections in his country. The Mongolian People’s Party has swept back to power by winning 62 of the 76 seats in Parliament. This will help in the continuity of the policy of strategic partnership with India which has extended a USD 1 billion line of credit to Mongolia for the construction of an oil refinery that should make this Northern Asian nation self-reliant in the energy sector.
There is a piece by Lord Rami Ranger, a member of our Global Advisory Board, on the defacing of Mahatma Gandhi’s statues in the U.K. by hate groups steeped in a medieval mindset.
Hope you like going through the range of stories in this issue.
