The statement said the Indian premier also congratulated PM Hasina for her reelection as Bangladesh Prime Minister for third consecutive term. Mr Kamal arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday to attend the 7th Bangladesh-India home minister level talks held in New Delhi in August. About border management issue, the Indian premier assured Mr Kamal that the two countries would work together for a secured and effective border by combating drug smuggling and cross-border terrorism. He also opined that BIMSTEC could play a crucial role for maintaining peace and development in the region.
Mr Modi expressed his country’s eagerness to be a partner of the programmes undertaken by the Bangladesh Government to observe the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali, Home Secretary (Public Safety division) Mostafa Kamal Uddin, Secretary (Protection Division) Mohammad Shahiduzzaman and Inspector of Police Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwari were present during the meeting.
