THE NEW DHAKA-DELHI CONNECTION

After a gap of five years which is an eternity in the volatile ...

On Biman’s expansion strategy…

The year 2019 is one of expansion for us. This year we will have four new aircrafts, two of them Boeing 737-800s in May and June. In July and September two brand new state-of-the-art 787 dreamliners from the Boeing factory in Seattle will be added to our fleet. Naturally, we’ll be able to spread our wings and touch new horizons. In October we’ll be adding two more dreamliners. It will close out a deal worth USD 2.1 billion signed with Boeing in 2008.

On new routes…

By the first week of July three new routes would have opened up. In the Delhi-Dhaka sector where we are already operational, we are flying three times a week—on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight from Dhaka departs at 3 p.m., while the one from Delhi takes off at 6.20 p.m. The 737-800 will have 12 business class seats and 150 in economy. We’ve witnessed major traffic growth in this route over the years, primarily for medical purposes, tourism, education, official tours, and business. Then in the first week of July we will fly four times a week to Guangzhou, China. We’ll also start flying to Medina, the pilgrimage destination.
