As the new Government at the centre in India takes position, we asked diplomats for their views on how best, going forward, they’d plan to engage and strategize with the world’s largest democracy. The responses that cut across continents show there is fresh enthusiasm in the world order as Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned with a greater majority for his party—the Bharatiya Janata Party (see separate political story). In the triumph on the electoral battlefield one thing is clear—the BJP will provide a stable Government for another five years, which in turn will allow several of the ongoing economic and developmental projects to reach a logical culmination and success.
