Mr Doykov was born on January 31, 1964 in Bulgaria. He arrived in India on April 29, 2014 to take up his assignment as Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of India. On June 10, he presented his credentials to His Excellency the Honourable Shri Pranab Mukherjee, President of the Republic of India. Mr Doykov is accredited also as Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (September 9, 2014). He is the first Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria accredited to the Republic of the Maldives (November 9, 2014). On January 12, 2015 and May 28, 2015 he presented his credentials as Ambassador of Bulgaria to Bangladesh and Nepal respectively.

Prior to his current appointment Mr Doykov served as Director General for Bilateral Relations (October 2013- April 2014) and Security Policy Director (June 2012- September 2013) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
