GOPIO CONDEMNS STABBING DEATH OF INDIAN WOMAN IN SYDNEY
The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO Interational) expresses strong and unequivocal condemnation of the brutal stabbing death of Prabha Arun Kumar, the 41-yeard old mother of a nine-year-old girl, in Parramatta Park by an as yet unknown assailant as she walked to her home in Sydney, Australia. GOPIO considers this despicable act as unforgivable and unjustified criminal action which creates fear among innocent citizens, especially among women.
We join with several community organizations, officials, agencies and individuals in our condemnation of this murder of an innocent Indian woman while we share the pain and anguish of her family as well as our brethren and sisters in Australia. We extend our condolences, prayers and good wishes to the family of Prabha Arun Kumar as they mourn this tragic loss.
GOPIO commends State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Parramatta detectives for their efforts in seeking and bringing to quick justice the assailant(s) of this horrific crime. We fully support all measures taken to bring security, calm and confidence to the people and urge all efforts to prevent similar attacks in the future.
“I do sympathise with family both in Australian and India while condemning the brutal stabbing death of Prabha Arun Kumar”, said Umesh Chandra GOPIO International Coordinator, Oceania. This statement echoes the shared sentiments of all GOPIO chapters in Australia, GOPIO’s officials, life members and council members throughout Australia and the global Indian Diaspora.
