India and Egypt are widening their strategic partnership through deeper cooperation in Africa, industrial collaboration, investment facilitation and workforce development.

Cairo: India and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding strategic cooperation across Africa, with senior officials exploring new avenues for collaboration in development, industry, investment and skills during a series of high-level engagements in Cairo.

India’s Ambassador to Egypt Suresh Reddy met the country’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs Mohamed Abu Bakr Saleh, with both sides exchanging views on the steadily growing India-Egypt Strategic Partnership. The discussions also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation across Africa by building on India’s demand-driven development partnership and Egypt’s leadership role on the continent.

The Ambassador also held talks with Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the industrial sector. Discussions focused on industrial development, expanding the framework for collaboration, facilitating investments and extending support to Indian companies seeking opportunities in Egypt.

Both sides also explored measures to promote stronger industry-to-industry engagement, encourage technology partnerships and create a more conducive environment for investors.

Continuing his outreach, Ambassador Reddy met Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority (SCZONE), to discuss expanding investment cooperation and strengthening the bilateral economic partnership. The meeting highlighted the growing presence of Indian companies in the SCZONE, with investments spanning textiles, chemicals, ferro-manganese and other manufacturing sectors.

In another significant engagement, the Ambassador met Egypt’s Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad to discuss cooperation in skill development, labour laws and regulatory frameworks, workforce mobility and issues concerning Indian enterprises operating in Egypt. The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to fostering a dynamic and business-friendly environment.

The series of meetings reflects the growing breadth of the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership, with both nations placing renewed emphasis on economic cooperation, industrial growth and collaborative development initiatives across Africa.
