Africa & Europe Bilateral Relations
Brief Q&A with H.E. Mr Eric Camille N’DRY, Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to India

As India’s economy and global partnerships expand, which emerging sectors or areas of cooperation do you believe hold the greatest promise for collaboration between your country and India?
India and Côte d’Ivoire have enjoyed excellent relations for several decades. They cooperate in areas such as agriculture, health, technology, education, and capacity building (scholarships under the ICCR and ITEC programs).
A few years ago, India granted Côte d’Ivoire credit lines for several projects. Some of these projects have now been completed, while others are still underway. These projects include, among others, the installation of rice processing and vegetable oil extraction facilities, the modernization of the fishing industry, the renewal of the urban transport system in Abidjan, and the construction of power transmission lines between Côte d’Ivoire and Mali. The most iconic project receiving financial support from India is undoubtedly the Mahatma Gandhi IT and Biotechnology Park in Grand Bassam, about fifteen kilometers from Abidjan.
The most promising areas of this cooperation, and those that are priorities for Côte d’Ivoire, are the development of agribusiness (local processing of cashews and cocoa), digital technology (AI and cybersecurity), renewable energy (solar, biomass), pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, and mining (gold, nickel, manganese, diamonds, etc.).
What areas of cooperation between your country and India do you believe hold the greatest potential for growth in the coming years?
Agricultural mechanization and the local processing of our products, such as cocoa, oil palm, cashews, and natural rubber are currently the Ivorian government’s top priorities.
In the same vein, the discovery of mineral and oil deposits in Côte d’Ivoire represents a major opportunity for both countries.
Indian expertise in the pharmaceutical sector and the establishment of local vaccine production facilities remain important, mutually beneficial projects.
Potential Indian investors and economic operators are welcome.
