Dr Jagvinder Singh Virk is credited with launching GOPIO in Australia. He was introduced to GOPIO president Inder Singh during Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in January 2008. In May 2008, GOPIO chapters in Australia were launched in the presence of a federal cabinet minister from Australia, India's consul general in Sydney and GOPIO president Inder Singh.
Dr Virk was appointed chairman GOPIO Australia Business Council. He has been engaged in networking with all segments of the overseas Indian community and has been providing a common platform for all NRI/PIO businessmen.
Dr Virk migrated to Australia in 2006 and in a short period of time has established himself. He is highly motivated and enthusiastic and is well known person in Sydney’s Indian community. Dr Virk has an MD degree from Ukraine and served as a doctor in Chandigarh before moving to Australia.
