India’s will is being tested. More so now as the forces of evil are aligned sharply against it than ever before. Its body is battered, bruised and bleeding. Yet, with a spirit remarkable, and a will resolute, India continues to fight. Crisis after crisis washes its way, yet the Indian resilience, and tolerance, remains at a high. The month of September amply demonstrated India’s ability to stand firm and look adversity in the eye. It is this remarkable resilience that is the subject of our cover story.

Also in this issue we have photographic coverage of some major diaspora events across the world, and a NRI-PIO section that truly demonstrates how we Indians can make a difference wherever we go, and set our minds to giving off our best.

An interview with the secretary in the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, K Mohandas, gives us an insight into his dynamic new leadership style as well as the clear vision the Ministry is pursuing to reach out to the diaspora.

One of the stories of the resilient Indian is scripted by the poor Indian every day. He has to do much, but be satisfied with very little. It is this Indian that the Delhi Government has targeted for benefit through an innovative approach known as Mission Covergence that draws inspiration from the Brazilian Bolsa Familia model.
