The Business Development Company Limited (BDC) provides technical, financial and export promotion support services to foster sustained growth and international competitiveness of businesses. The focus of the BDC is strengthening the capacity and capabilities of established medium-sized enterprises.
| The Company offers a portfolio of products and services which include: a Loan Guarantee
Programme, an Approved Small Company Status designation, for tax relief purposes and Finance Leases for the acquisition of productive machinery and equipment through its subsidiary Caribbean Leasing Company Limited
(CLCL). The Company’s technical support services include: entrepreneurial training and productivity and efficiency enhancement programmes such as: ISO 14001,
HACCP, HSE, OSHAs, GAP and GMP. |

The Company recently launched the region’s first Business-to-Business Portal called the smeXchange. This portal is specifically designed to encourage the use of ICT by Caribbean businesses. Companies without websites and those who are interested in showcasing their products and services to the world via the Internet are encouraged to register at
www.smexchange.com.
The BDC administers the Research and Development Facility (R&D Facility) aimed at increasing the international competitiveness of businesses. This facility provides businesses in the manufacturing and service industries with access to a grant, which supports investments for technological advancements and innovation.
The BDC now adds regional and international business promotion to its robust list of services. This includes participation at international trade fairs and exhibitions and the provision of trade and business information services.
It is the mission of the BDC to consistently provide its clients with the products and services they need to increase their competitive advantage and positively impact their bottom line.
