Books: Sheeraz Hasan

SPONSORING A DREAM

A book sponsored by a cardiovascular surgeon is making a bigtime impact in America

Dr Arjun Daluvoy, a prominent Southern California cardiovascular surgeon who also heads World Entertainment Media Company, was so moved by Sheeraz Hasan’s memoirs, “The Muslim American Dream,” that he agreed to distribute 25,000 copies of the book. “I am a devout Hindu, but as soon as I found out about this sponsorship programme after reading Sheeraz’s wonderful autobiography, I was inspired to give away 25,000 copies on my own behalf as a personal way to foster peace and harmony among all the religions,” he said.

With the India and Pakistan Independence Day festivals being held throughout Southern California in August, Daluvoy announced that he will be giving Sheeraz’s autobiography away free to thousands of people.

“As a Hindu, he is embracing a Muslim,” Sheeraz Hasan exclaimed. “Dr Daluvoy believes so much in our efforts to build a positive image of Muslims around the world and finds my story so inspiring that he wants to let as many people as possible know that anyone can live the American Dream.”
Sheeraz added, “In light of the recent bombings in India and the ongoing skirmishes between Hindus and Muslims, it is extremely important to spread the word that Islam is a peaceful religion with millions of peaceful followers and that Muslims and Hindus can peacefully live together. Our goal is to build bridges between all communities, and through the book’s sponsorships, the book, and our message, will be distributed to people of all religious backgrounds.”

At a recent event, Daluvoy was present when Hasan was signing autographed copies of his book and hundreds of people went away happy and wanted to read the inspirational story. “When Dr Daluvoy saw that, he told me right then and there that he wanted to be a sponsor,” said Sheeraz.

Since its June 10 unveiling at the 2006 Bollywood Awards, where it won the Best Autobiography Award, thousands of copies of Sheeraz’s “The Muslim American Dream” have been distributed and sales continue to climb daily. Since the popularity of the book increased so quickly, sponsorships are now available for entrepreneurial individuals and companies who wish to have a promotional tool that will last forever.

“This is my mission,” Sheeraz said. “Unlike magazines and newspapers, a book is a personal treasure, and I can guarantee that when you give someone my book, they will keep that book for life.” “I’m really happy that Dr Daluvoy sponsored the book, and I can guarantee him that every time someone picks up my book his company logo will be on the cover, there is no other way to get better branding than that,” said Sheeraz. “Whether the book is at someone’s home, office, car or even their bedroom, the book will be right there for all to read.”

Just as Dr Daluvoy plans to do, other sponsors can distribute the books at cultural and religious festivals, charity events and fundraisers as well as through mosques, churches, temples, gurdwaras and synagogues, which are ideal places to offer the book where multitudes of people congregate.
