An economy’s mettle can be tested by its consumption of steel

After exactly a year since we interviewed him last, we met with Canada’s High Commissioner to India, H.E. Mr Nadir Patel. Things insofar as Indo-Canadian bilateral relations are concerned, are clearly at a new level. Two-way trade has gone up by nearly a billion and a half dollars in just a year. After a gap of nine years, a direct flight between Toronto and Delhi has been revived, and another one will be introduced between Vancouver and Delhi in October 2016. In the last year, 80 new Canadian companies have established a physical presence in India. And much more has happened, of which you will get an account in the interview. Likewise, do not miss out on the interview with Portugal’s Ambassador to India, H.E. Mr Joao da Camara. We have a Portuguese Prime Minister who is of Indian origin—the only such European PM—and expect bilateral relations to be meaningfully strengthened between India and Portugal.

We have a new column from FICCI’s Secretary General Dr A. Didar Singh, a column from Mongolian Ambassador to India H.E. Mr Gonchig Ganbold, and another on the African situation in India by former Ambassador Mr Malay Mishra. There is plenty more you can navigate through in our pages.

Happy reading.
